A 31-year-old man died after exchanging gunfire with police Saturday, August 9, in Milwaukee.
Officers were dispatched to teh area of 60th and Center around 7:00 p.m. after receiving calls about a vehicle associated with multiple business robberies. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities located the suspect vehicle parked behind a residence. A man was found on the porch, armed with a handgun.
Police stated the individual refused to drop the weapon. A gunfight then ensued between the suspect and the officers. It remains unclear if the fatal shot came from a police firearm or was self-inflicted, as the weapon was discovered next to the deceased man.
The involved officers have been placed on administrative duty, a standard procedure following officer-involved shootings, according to Chief Jeffrey Norman. Brookfield police are spearheading the investigation into the incident.
