She spent considerable time working with horses, developing essential skills in their care. Beyond animal husbandry, she actively participated in gymnastics, volleyball, 4-H, and even rodeo. âMy first connection to animals was riding,â Blewett explained. She recounted a formative experience at age six, where she was thrown from a horse during a rodeo. âI had to deal with getting through a mental block and being confident enough to do those things again.â This early challenge instilled in her the importance of perseverance and courage â qualities crucial in the veterinary field.

While proficient in general practice (GP), Dr. Blewett expressed a particular enthusiasm for reproduction and sports medicine. She initially considered a career focused on wildlife, but ultimately decided against pursuing a PhD, recognizing the additional four years of schooling required.
