Kabul At least 30 people have been killed in a series of bomb blasts in three parts of Afghanistan. More than 50 people were injured in three separate blasts. The bomber struck shortly after noon on Thursday, April 21 in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and in the Masar-e-Sharif and Kundas provinces of Balkh province.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in Kabul’s PD5 district, according to the Afghan Interior Ministry. The ministry confirmed that two youths were injured in the incident.

Another bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a Shi’ite mosque in Masar-e-Sharif. At least 10 people have been killed and at least 40 injured in what became known as the Shi’ite mosque in Balkh province. This is the second attack on Shiite mosques in Afghanistan in the last 48 hours.

Preliminary reports say 11 people have been killed in a third attack in Kundas, Afghanistan’s northern border province. News agencies report that the death toll could rise further.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Another major attack was reported today in the wake of a bomb blast that killed six people in western Kabul two days ago. Attacks by Shiite extremist Islamic State on Shia Muslims in Afghanistan have become a recurring theme.
