Jaffna is ruled by the Eelam People’s Democratic Party. In the Velanai Pradeshiya Sabha, a motion was passed today calling for the resignation of the Cabinet, including the President.
Opposition members of the Velanai Pradeshiya Sabha had gone to the council wearing black belts.
Members of the ruling party have protested against the activities of members of the Tamil National Alliance, the United National Party, the Tamil Liberation Alliance and the Tamil National People’s Front.
However, a Newsfest correspondent reported that two members of the ruling Eelam People’s Democratic Party later joined the black-clad opposition.
A motion has been passed in the House by members of the opposition calling for the resignation of the President and the Cabinet, which are responsible for the current crisis in the country.
