Sheikh Mansour Chairs Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Sector Strategy Meeting
Abu Dhabi is accelerating its transition to a diversified, low-carbon energy future, as outlined in a key strategy meeting chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidency of the Supreme Committee on the Water and Electricity Sector in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, held Monday at Al-Watan Palace, focused on the ongoing development of the water and electricity sectors within the Emirate.
The discussions centered on future growth plans, with a particular emphasis on diversifying energy sources and increasing reliance on low-carbon sources to support Abu Dhabi’s expanding economy and bolster its global standing in the energy and water industries.
Strategic Focus on Sustainable Growth
The Supreme Committee reviewed current developments in both the water and electricity sectors, acknowledging the critical role they play in sustaining Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification. A senior official stated that the meeting underscored the importance of aligning sector growth with the emirate’s broader sustainability goals. This includes exploring innovative technologies and investment opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

The meeting drew a high-level delegation, signaling the strategic importance of the water and electricity sectors to the nation’s leadership. Attendees included Suhail bin Muhammad Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Head of the President of the State for Strategic Affairs and Head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC); Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and Head of the Finance Department; Dr. Abdullah Hamid Al-Jarwan, Head of the Energy Department; and Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment and CEO and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Holding Company.
