Saint-Denis Fair Ploërmel: Dates & What to Expect

Ploërmel’s Saint-Denis Fair Set to Return with New Attractions in 2025

A beloved tradition, the Saint-Denis Fair, will once again grace the heart of Ploërmel, France, on October 19 and 20, 2025, alongside a preceding funfair running from Wednesday, October 13th to Sunday, October 19th.

The annual fair is deeply ingrained in the city’s cultural fabric, inextricably linked to the vibrant atmosphere and attractions found on Place de la Gare, according to a local official. This year, organizers are focused on revitalizing the event to draw even larger crowds.

Currently, thirty traders have registered to participate, with expectations exceeding forty vendors by the event’s start. While acknowledging a decline in traditional brick-and-mortar businesses, organizers emphasize the enduring appeal of the fair. Attendees can anticipate a diverse array of offerings, including designs, artisan crafts, catering, ready-to-wear clothing, leather goods, and flea market finds – all promising attractive deals. “The proposal is more open than in a traditional market,” noted a representative from SB market, the organization assisting the City with the fair’s setup.

City Embraces Reinvention

The City of Ploërmel is actively seeking to modernize the fair experience. A unique addition for 2025 will be a pop-up farm, courtesy of Bio Cochon de Mauron, bringing goats, ducks, donkeys, ponies, and rabbits directly to visitors. A senior official enthused about the opportunity to connect residents with farm animals.

Beyond the animal encounters, free creative workshops and makeup artistry will be offered under the Carmes courtyard, running from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Musical entertainment will also be provided, with Les Moineaux chanteurs performing with their traditional barrel organs.

To ensure accessibility for all, the RIV Bus and on-demand transport services will be offered free of charge on Monday, October 20th. “It is important to do everything to facilitate access to the fair,” the official stated. Downtown merchants will also be opening their doors to capitalize on the increased foot traffic. Street vendors are welcome to join, though they will be accommodated after registered vendors have been fully set up.

The Saint-Denis Fair will be held all day on Sunday, October 19th and Monday, October 20th, 2025, in Ploërmel, and admission is free.
