The UNT Woodwind Area boasts a faculty comprised of nationally and internationally recognized artists and pedagogues, dedicated to fostering the talents of aspiring musicians. Students can pursue degrees at the bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral level in a range of instruments, including flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, and even opportunities to specialize in multiple woodwinds.

Additional ensemble opportunities are available through the UNT Wind Studies ensembles, UNT orchestras, the contemporary ensemble NOVA, and Early Music ensembles, all within the state-of-the-art Murchison Performing Arts Center.
A Pathway to Professional Success
The impact of UNT’s Woodwind Area extends far beyond the campus. Alumni have secured positions in leading US orchestras – including the Boston, Cleveland, Dallas, Milwaukee, and Orlando orchestras, among others. They also serve in prominent US military bands, such as the D.C.-based U.S. Marine “President’s Own”, the U.S. Army Pershing Band, and the U.S. Navy and Air Force Bands. Furthermore, graduates are making thier mark on Broadway, as educators at all levels, and in the recording industry, contributing to major motion picture soundtracks and television studios.
Many alumni are also engaged in scholarly work and hold administrative leadership positions within the music industry. Students also benefit from practical experience within the thriving musical landscape of the Dallas-Ft. Worth region, performing in numerous well-paying professional orchestras and honing their teaching skills through Teaching Fellowships and Assistantships, as well as through private teaching opportunities.
