Pininfarina and JAS Motorsport Revive Honda NSX Legacy with New Grand Tourer
A collaboration between Italian design house Pininfarina and Honda motorsport partner JAS Motorsport is poised to deliver a modern reimagining of the iconic 1990 Honda NSX, aimed at collectors and performance enthusiasts. The project, currently in its final prototype phase, promises a blend of classic DNA and contemporary engineering.
A New Definition of Grand Touring
The forthcoming vehicle seeks to redefine the Grand Touring concept, building upon the core principles that made the original NSX a legend: high performance, exceptional balance, and unwavering reliability. According to a company release, the goal is to create a vehicle equally at home on the racetrack and the open road.
Design and Construction
Pininfarina is responsible for the vehicle’s striking design, which will feature a full carbon fiber body. The construction process utilizes a unique approach, starting with an existing, early 1990s production vehicle – selected for its robust chassis and mechanical components. This allows for both left- and right-hand drive configurations.
Powertrain and Performance
Powering the new Grand Tourer will be a naturally aspirated V6 engine, directly inspired by the original NSX. Engineers are focused on maximizing power, torque, and responsiveness, pairing the engine with a traditional six-speed manual transmission. This commitment to a driver-focused experience signals a deliberate departure from current automotive trends.
Limited Production Run
The prototype is currently being refined at the JAS Motorsport studio in Arluno, near Milan, Italy. Production will be strictly limited, catering to a discerning clientele of collectors and enthusiasts. “The collaboration is going according to plan,” a senior official stated, adding that the project is now entering its final stages of development.
Unveiling and Future Details
Further details, including the vehicle’s official name, are expected to be released before its public debut in the first half of 2026. The companies have indicated that the unveiling will mark a significant moment for both brands and the automotive world.
