Sam Sarver Named 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Most Valuable Player

A dominant season with North texas SC has culminated in a prestigious honor for forward Sam Sarver, who was named the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Most Valuable Player presented by adidas on October 29, 2025.The award recognizes Sarver’s exceptional contributions to his team and the league, as voted on by Head Coaches, Chief Soccer Officers, and League content teams.

From Collegiate Standout to Pro Dominance

Sarver’s journey to the top began with his first professional contract with North texas SC on January 26, 2025. Immediately establishing himself as a key player, he was named team captain and made 25 appearances throughout the season. The forward quickly became the focal point of the North texas SC attack, leading the team in scoring with an notable 19 goals, alongside four assists and 30 key passes.

His offensive prowess was undeniable, registering a league-leading 40 shots on target from a total of 78 shots.

Coaching Praise

North Texas SC Head Coach John Gall lauded Sarver’s impact, stating, “He’s a special player, and I made him captain as soon as he left preseason with the first team. He put this team on his back from day one.” Gall further emphasized the club’s role in developing talent, stating, “One of the things as second-team manager is to put players in the first team, but more then that for me, deliver them ready to make an immediate impact and that’s exactly what he has done.I am so proud of Sam Sarver, and this is only just the begining for him.”

Accolades and Recognition

Sarver’s stellar play earned him consistent recognition throughout the 2025 season. He was named MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Matchweek for Weeks 19 and 30, and earned the title of Player of the Month in August. His consistent excellence also led to his selection for the 2025 MLS NEXT pro Best XI. As captain, Sarver led North Texas SC to victory, lifting the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Invitational Cup. This MVP award marks a historic moment for North Texas SC, as Sarver becomes the first player from the club to receive the honor, joining Arturo Rodríguez (2019) as a club MVP.

A rising Star in MLS

“I feel ecstatic,” sarver shared. “This was one of the goals I set for myself this year.It’s a reflection of the whole club and everything they’ve done for me and my teammates. It takes a village, it’s not just me winning the award my teammates are involved too.” He also expressed gratitude for the possibility presented by the Dallas organization, noting, “God’s plan I ended up here as Dallas is so good with rewarding guys, and I feel like I fell into the perfect pipeline. I’m super pumped to win this award. The news coming from Bradley Wright-phillips is cool as I played with him when I was younger and always looked up to him.”

Sarver’s success has already translated to opportunities at the next level.He signed an FC Dallas contract on July 24, 2025, and made his debut on July 19, becoming the 37th player to feature for both FC Dallas and North Texas SC. He has since made one start in six appearances,contributing two assists,and even started in FC Dallas’ Game 1 of the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 series at Vancouver.

Prior to his professional career, Sarver showcased his talent at Indiana University, scoring 24 goals and recording 22 assists in four years.
