Beaufort memorial Hospital has commenced construction on a new Emergency & Urgent Care facility in southern Beaufort County. The center will be fully equipped with advanced medical technology, including on-site lab services and a complete radiology suite featuring CT and X-ray scanners. Staffing will consist of emergency-trained, board-certified physicians and nurses, ensuring a high standard of medical expertise.

The planned Beaufort Memorial Emergency & Urgent Care will encompass a range of specialized areas designed to handle diverse medical needs:

- Five ER Exam rooms
- Five Urgent Care Exam Rooms

- Imaging/Radiology – CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, EKG
- Point-of-Care Testing/Lab

Beaufort Memorial’s partnership with Dallas-based Intuitive Health is central to the project’s success. According to a company release,Intuitive Health is “proud to partner with Beaufort Memorial to bring this innovative care model to Hilton Head Island.” By combining emergency and urgent care, the facility will streamline the patient experience and ensure individuals receive the “right level of care, right away.”
MUSC Health is also a key partner in this endeavor. Patrick J. Cawley, M.D., MUSC Health CEO and executive vice president for Health Affairs, University, emphasized the importance of providing “enhanced access to emergency and urgent care services” to the Hilton Head Island community.

A key benefit of this combined model is its potential to control healthcare costs. hospital officials explain that patients requiring urgent care will receive billing rates appropriate for that level of service, rather than the higher costs associated with emergency room visits.
Patients can anticipate the convenience of walk-in access, eliminating the need for appointments, alongside the specialized expertise of a customary hospital emergency department – all while minimizing wait times. Beaufort Memorial President and CEO Russell Baxley affirmed that this facility is “a huge milestone, providing an innovative, patient-centered approach to deliver healthcare on Hilton Head Island.”
