It has been reported that Mahinda Rajapaksa will step down as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
Speaking after a meeting with President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Mahinda Rajapaksa said the President had the right to resolve the political crisis in the country under the 20th Amendment and would co-operate fully with the President’s decision.
Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections last week, but have sought to have the prime minister removed from office.
