Eviden to Bolster European Cybersecurity with New Collaborative Testing Platform

The effort stems from a successful bid by Eviden, the Atos Group’s leading product brand specializing in advanced computing, cybersecurity products, mission-critical systems, and vision AI, in a call for projects from the European Cybersecurity Competence Center and Network (ECCC). This initiative underscores the growing urgency across the continent to enhance digital resilience and foster greater collaboration in the face of escalating cyber risks.
Strengthening Europe’s Digital Defenses
The ECCC initiative aims to cultivate a robust and unified community focused on cybersecurity, prioritizing collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the implementation of cutting-edge solutions across Europe. According to a company release, the project will directly support the ECCC’s overarching mission to bolster Europe’s digital resilience.
At the heart of this effort is the CIPHER (Cybersecurity Intelligence, Protection and Holistic Enterprise Resilience) consortium. This standardized, collaborative facility will provide essential service operators with the tools needed to test, validate, and certify their cybersecurity posture. “CIPHER will provide a much-needed standardized approach to cybersecurity testing and certification,” stated a senior official.
A Multi-National, Multi-Sectoral Approach
Led by Eviden, the CIPHER consortium unites 13 partners from 7 European countries. This diverse group includes critical infrastructure operators, leading research organizations, and innovative cybersecurity SMEs, ensuring a comprehensive and multi-sectoral approach to enhancing Europe’s cyber resilience. This broad participation is crucial for addressing the complex and interconnected nature of modern cyber threats.
The ECCC itself plays a pivotal role in coordinating investments in cybersecurity research, innovation, and industrial development through its network of National Coordination Centres (NCCs). These NCCs bring together national cybersecurity authorities, industry leaders, start-ups, and research centers. The CIPHER project, initiated by the ECCC, is designed to strengthen detection and coordination capabilities at the European level through technological innovation and automation.
Funding and Future Implications
CIPHER is funded under the European Commission’s Digital Europe Programme (DEP) through the ECCC ‘Cybersecurity Deployment’ call. This funding will support the large-scale deployment of cybersecurity capacities throughout the EU.
