Jake Lye Graduates as Specialist Cadet, Sparks Comparisons to Korean Star Song Joong Ki
Diana Ser’s son, Jake Lye, recently completed his training and graduated as a Specialist Cadet, captivating social media with his appearance and prompting comparisons to South Korean actor Song Joong Ki.
The 18-year-old son of the beloved Singaporean television presenter and former actor James Lye was celebrated over the weekend at the Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade. Ser shared photos of Jake in his ceremonial No. 1 Dress uniform on Instagram, noting it was “another milestone” for her family. The uniform indicated Jake’s role as an armour sergeant.
The graduation ceremony took place at Pasir Laba Camp, with both Diana Ser and her 17-year-old daughter, Christy, in attendance to support Jake. While Lye, 55, and their youngest daughter, Jaymee, 14, were present, they were not featured in the family photos shared online.
However, it was Jake himself who garnered the most attention. Online reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on his striking appearance. Followers described the young cadet as a “one fine young man” experiencing an “army glow up,” and frequently remarked on his inherited good looks.
“It’s like looking at your twin,” one follower commented, tagging Diana Ser. Another playfully dubbed Jake “Mini James,” referencing his father’s former career as a television star.
Remarkably, multiple social media users drew a parallel between Jake and the internationally renowned actor Song Joong Ki. “Oh, wow, for a moment there I thought I saw Song Joong Ki,” one commenter observed. This observation sparked speculation among fans, with some playfully questioning if Singapore was witnessing the emergence of its own “Descendants of the Sun” leading man.
The enthusiastic response highlights the public’s continued interest in the family and celebrates Jake Lye’s achievement as he embarks on his career with the Singapore Armed Forces.
