Stuttgart’s Comic Con Evolves into a Pop culture Multiverse

The annual Comic Con Stuttgart, held November 29th and 30th, has transformed the Stuttgart Trade Fair into a vibrant hub for fans of comics, science fiction, and gaming, attracting a diverse crowd and expanding its footprint for 2025.
On Saturday morning, the unusual began: a life-sized worm, identified as Marcus the Worm, was spotted waiting for the U6 train in the direction of Messe at the Olgaeck stop. Originating from the more obscure corners of the internet – typically encountered in online streams and TikTok clips – Marcus boarded the train alongside a growing number of cosplayers.
Many attendees were clearly “in the mood” for a weekend celebrating all things pop culture. This year’s event marked a critically important shift, showcasing a wider range of pop culture offerings. These include a new Lego exhibition, a retro gaming area with classic consoles, and displays of iconic film vehicles. Dedicated zones like the Gaming Zone, Cosplay Kingdom, the Star Wars-themed Galactic Cantina, and the inclusive Queer Avenue further enhance the experience.
A key draw for many attendees is the possibility to meet voice actors. Constantin von Jascheroff, known for his work in Star Wars and Demon Slayer, will be offering autographs, photos, and personalized voice messages for approximately 40 euros per recording. The convention also features appearances by international guest stars, including Sean Gunn, Ross Marquand, and Sasha Pieterse. While actor Kida Khodr Ramadan of “4 Blocks” was originally scheduled to attend, he regrettably had to cancel his appearance.
A Community Reunited
despite long lines for autographs and crowded halls, the atmosphere at Comic Con Stuttgart remains overwhelmingly positive. “I like it here so much. I’ve been to many trade fairs,but Comic Con Stuttgart is by far the best,” remarked one attendee dressed as a pirate captain from the One Piece anime series.
The sense of community is a major factor for repeat visitors. “The offering is large, there is a cool program but above all, the clientele is good here,” one attendee explained. For Lukas from Saarland, who attended Comic Con for the fourth time this year, the event is “always like a big family reunion.” He showcased a Mandolorian costume he created himself using a 3D printer.
Cosplay and the Art of Transformation
The convention is a showcase for creativity and dedication, exemplified by elaborate cosplay. Megan, a student from Munich, embodied Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, flanked by fellow cosplayers portraying Gandalf and Frodo from The Lord of the Rings. “I think jack Sparrow just has a cool personality,” Megan shared. “He’s brave, a little crazy – just completely different than I am.” She invested approximately 750 euros and 150 hours into her costume, a testament to her passion.
The event fosters a unique environment where fans can embody their favorite characters. A photograph captured the unexpected juxtaposition of Tinkerbell and Mr. Spock, highlighting the convention’s ability to bring disparate universes together.
Comic con Stuttgart transcends the typical convention format, becoming a “true multiverse” where characters from different franchises coexist. the magic lies not in elaborate displays, but in the connections forged between individuals who share a common passion. For one weekend, Stuttgart becomes a place where creativity reigns supreme, and anyone can be whoever they want to be.
