During his senior year with the Tigers, he showcased impressive skills, averaging 16.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game, earning All-ACC honors.
The Lakers initially drafted Elden Campbell with the 27th overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft, and he spent over eight seasons with the franchise. His most productive season came during the 1996/97 campaign, where he averaged 14.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks, playing alongside rising stars Shaquille O’neal and Kobe Bryant.

Campbell’s impact extended to the postseason, where he appeared in 106 games (53 starts), contributing 8.4 points, 4.7 rebounds,and 1.3 blocks in 21.4 minutes.
