PBNU Gears Up for Key Meetings, Potential Leadership Transition in December 2025

Indonesia’s Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), one of the world’s largest independent Muslim organizations, is preparing for a series of crucial meetings in December 2025 focused on organizational performance, future planning, and a potential change in leadership.These deliberations will unfold through a combination of plenary sessions and a joint meeting of the Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah Management.

The process culminates with a joint meeting scheduled for saturday, December 13, 2025, in the 8th Floor Hall of the PBNU Building on Jalan Kramat Raya 164, Central Jakarta. According to an official communication dated December 6, 2025, and numbered 4804/PB.01/AI01.03/99/12/2025, the meeting will center on a comprehensive management performance evaluation and discussions regarding proposals for an interim replacement within the association. The letter was signed by several key figures including deputy Rais Aam KH.Anwar Iskandar, Head of Syuriah KH. Ahmad Tajul mafakhir, Deputy Chairman KH. Zulfa mustofa, and Deputy Secretary General KH. Imron rosyadi Hamid.

The invitation was formally addressed to the Executive Board of the Syuriyah daily and the executive Board of the Tanfidziyah Daily, with a copy also sent to Rais Aam PBNU KH. Miftachul Akhyar.

The second plenary meeting, set for Thursday, december 11, 2025, will also be held in the 8th Floor Hall of the PBNU Building in Central Jakarta. This session will address three key areas: a thorough program evaluation, efforts toward organizational consolidation, and strategies for disaster management.
