A walk through the winter forest on Kornmarkt promises a special experience, continuing until January 1, 2026. For those seeking a romantic outing, the Heidelberg ice rink at Karlsplatz will be open until January 11, 2026, providing a picturesque setting for ice skating against the backdrop of the cityS iconic castle. Notably, the ice rink will be closed on December 24th for the Christmas holiday.
Family-Kind Festivities
Families can enjoy a theatrical adaptation of Otfried Preußler’s beloved tale, “The Little Witch,” at the Heidelberg Theater, with performances scheduled through mid-january and tickets still readily available. The Heidelberg Zoo is also hosting a special Christmas reading on December 24th at 11 a.m., featuring self-written animal stories by Zoo director Dr. Klaus Wünnemann in a cozy setting. Additionally, the city’s swimming pools will offer a day of aquatic fun for families with games and activities.
Artistic and Ancient Exhibitions
Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to explore the works of internationally recognized Baden-Württemberg textile artist Lotte Hofmann/LoHo (1907 – 1981) at the max Berk textile collection.
