Columbia’s offensive struggles continued after the break, managing only seven points in the first four minutes while Stony Brook pushed their lead to 37-24. Goods punctuated the Seawolves’ strong start with an impressive alley-oop. despite a late surge from Columbia, cutting the deficit to 42-36, stony Brook responded with a dominant stretch lead by pratt, who contributed a steal, a bucket, an assist on a Thomas Valentiny alley-oop, and an and-one play to restore a double-digit lead at 49-38.
Lions Mount Comeback, Force Overtime
With just under five minutes remaining, Toby Onyekonwu extended Stony Brook’s largest lead of the night with a deep three-pointer, followed by another dunk from Valentiny, pushing the advantage to 16. However, Columbia refused to concede, embarking on a 16-2 run to tie the game at 63-63 with 48 seconds left. The teams traded baskets, ultimately ending regulation tied at 65-65.
Pratt Seals the Victory in Overtime
Playing their first overtime game of the season, Stony Brook quickly gained the upper hand with a jumper from Onyekonwu. After a scoring lull, pratt converted two free throws to extend the lead to 69-65. A Columbia three-pointer narrowed the gap to one, but four consecutive free throws from Pratt proved decisive, securing the 77-73 victory.
