Cabrero Double Homicide: Primary Suspect Held, Second Arrest Made in Chile

A key suspect remains in preventive detention following the brutal murder of a father and son in the Bío Bío region of Chile earlier this week. The primary suspect, detained on Wednesday, underwent a formal hearing lasting nearly four hours on Friday at the Court of Letters and Guarantee of Cabrero. Prosecutors successfully argued for his continued detention, citing substantial evidence linking him to the double homicide. “The evidence and background gave the pursuer a position towards the involvement of this person in the events,” a senior official stated, emphasizing the strength of the case.
The victims reportedly left their home around 9:00 p.m. on December 9 to transport an unidentified individual to a nearby property. Shortly after, the mother and partner of the deceased received a devastating phone call from a friend informing her of their deaths. According to Commissioner López, a witness reported seeing the victims’ vehicle speeding away from the rural road where their bodies were discovered.
Second Suspect in Custody
Authorities have also apprehended a second individual in Linares on Thursday, who is currently being held for investigation. While formal charges are pending, officials anticipate the Prosecutor’s Office will soon file charges in connection with the Cabrero murders.
