Life University Wrestling Dominates Reinhardt in 39-9 Victory
Life University wrestling showcased its impressive depth and skill Wednesday, decisively defeating Reinhardt University 39-9 in a dual meet marked by dominant performances in the middle and upper weight classes. The Running Eagles secured victories in eight of the ten bouts, with six resulting in bonus points, establishing control from the outset.
The Running Eagles’ performance steadily gained momentum throughout the afternoon. At 125 lbs, Mikey Doerr quickly set the tone, achieving a pin against William Bishop at 2:11. While Reinhardt briefly responded with wins at 133 and 141 lbs, those proved to be their final victories of the day.
At 149 lbs, Dante Olivero halted Reinhardt’s momentum with a 7-2 decision over Maddox McArthur, demonstrating consistent pressure and positional control. Following Olivero, Fabian Padilla secured a 4-1 decision over Garrett Pace at 157 lbs, effectively protecting an early lead throughout the bout.
The turning point of the dual arrived at 165 lbs, where Alexander Couto delivered a standout performance. Couto amassed takedowns and near-fall points, culminating in a dominant 20-3 technical fall over Hayden Santora in just 2:41, firmly establishing Life U’s lead.
Life University continued its winning streak at 174 lbs, with Reese Jones securing a pin over Aidan Piatt at 2:07. Kendall Norfleet followed at 184 lbs with another commanding performance, earning a 16-1 technical fall against Jonathon Paramore.
The momentum continued into the heavier weight classes. At 197 lbs, Gio Jackson systematically broke down Aaron Riner, achieving a 21-6 technical fall at 6:33. Closing the afternoon, heavyweight Gabriel Jacobs sealed the victory with a fall at 5:26 against Caleb Pruitt.
Head Coach Omi Acosta reflected on the team’s performance as they approach the holiday break. “First, we’re blessed to have the opportunity to compete and we’re extremely fortunate that we get to do what we love every day,” Acosta stated. “I want to give my thanks to God, the man upstairs, for helping us get out of this dual healthy and be able to go home to our families and spend some quality time with them.” He continued, outlining the team’s focus on continued improvement, “National Duals is coming up in January, so we’re go home for a break, but then we’re back in Alabama at the Hawk Open and Duals, so we’re always getting better.
