Actor Adly Fairuz Faces Fraud Allegations Following Recent Divorce
A Jakarta court is set to hear a civil case alleging actor Adly Fairuz engaged in fraudulent activity, accused of accepting billions of rupiah in exchange for securing admission to the Police Academy (Akpol) for a prospective student. The legal challenge comes shortly after the actor’s divorce from Angbeen Rishi, adding another layer of complexity to his current situation.
The case, as detailed by the plaintiff’s legal team, centers around a promise allegedly made by Fairuz to guarantee acceptance into Akpol. According to Farly Lumopa, representing the plaintiff, the scheme involved a relative’s desire to enroll his son in the prestigious academy.
“I have a relative named Mr. H Abdul Hadi, his son wanted to enter the Police Academy, then contacted Mr. Agung Wahyono, so from Mr. Agung, Adly Fairuz promised that Mr. Abdul Hadi’s child could be accepted into the Police Academy,” Lumopa explained. “But in reality this failed twice, namely in 2023 and 2024.”
The alleged agreement stipulated a payment of IDR 3.65 billion (approximately $235,000 USD) in exchange for this guarantee. Lumopa further stated that the funds were delivered in cash through an intermediary, with initial claims that the money would be distributed to high-ranking officials.
“Initially he said it had been handed over to General Ahmad and it turned out that Ahmad was the full name of Adly Ahmad Fairuz,” Lumopa revealed. “In essence, Adly promised twice to prospective police officers but failed, while the third time he promised was that the victim’s age no longer met the requirements at the Police Academy.”
Following the repeated failures, the plaintiff demanded a refund, formalized in a notarized agreement outlining a repayment schedule of IDR 500 million (approximately $32,000 USD) monthly installments from January 2025 to September 2025. However, Lumopa asserts that Fairuz only made a single installment, breaching the agreement and defaulting on the payment plan.
The legal team is now pursuing a civil suit seeking nearly IDR 5 billion (approximately $322,000 USD) in damages, along with a daily fine of IDR 100 million (approximately $6,450 USD) should Fairuz fail to demonstrate good faith in resolving the matter. The lawsuit encompasses both material and immaterial damages, with the potential for criminal charges to follow.
Meisa Daryanti, another attorney representing the plaintiff, emphasized the lack of communication from Fairuz. “So Adly doesn’t have good intentions, he didn’t respond to our summons, so we were forced to register a lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court. We hope that Adly will return our client’s money,” she stated.
Additional legal counsel, Maman Ade Rukiman and Chyntia Olivia, have been appointed to the case, urging Fairuz to cooperate and avoid further deception. “We hope that Adly Fairuz can attend the trial, have good intentions to resolve the problem and not commit PHP (giving false hopes), because until now Adly has had no communication with the victim or the three of us as his attorneys,” Olivia said.
Rukiman also suggested a potential link between the legal troubles and Fairuz’s recent divorce, noting the timing of the separation following the issuance of the summons. “So after our summons reached their side, suddenly I saw in the news that he and his wife were divorcing, even though previously he was an artist who was far from gossip and had a lot of work,” Rukiman concluded.
Attempts to reach Adly Fairuz for comment through detikcom have been unsuccessful. The civil trial is scheduled to commence on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the South Jakarta District Court.
