Dax Shepard wasn’t disheartened by losing the inaugural Best Podcast Golden Globe award to Amy poehler, revealing a surprisingly heartwarming reason why the outcome didn’t sting.
The actor and host of “Armchair Expert” shared his reaction to the January 11 ceremony in a since-deleted Instagram post, explaining that the award wasn’t the real prize.
Shepard was a nominee in the first-ever Golden Globe category dedicated to podcasts, but Poehler’s “Good Hang” ultimately took home the trophy at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.

Despite not winning, the actor emphasized that his greatest reward lies in his family.
Following the Golden Globes, Shepard took to Instagram to share his feelings. He posted a screenshot of a text exchange with one of his daughters before the event, where she enthusiastically complimented his appearance.
“You look so handsome dada. Your suit is stunning,” his daughter wrote, according to the post. Shepard captioned the post, “this is the win. This is everything.”
his wife, Kristen Bell, also expressed her support for both Shepard and a close friend who was also nominated. “I’m a hype man. My husband and my best friend were nominated for the first-ever podcast category,” she said. She admitted she’d be “losing my mind” when their category was called, but emphasized that she was proud irrespective of the outcome.
“Even if they don’t win because I’m so proud of them,” Bell declared. “I’m not even thinking about me.”
A Family-Focused Outlook
The couple’s near-misses at the Golden Globes followed a recent personal revelation shared by Shepard on his podcast. He discussed a conversation with his youngest daughter, Delta, where she expressed her excitement about one day becoming a mother.
Shepard noted that Delta has always displayed a nurturing side, caring for her stuffed animals on family trips. He shared that he asked her when she envisioned having children, assuring her he wouldn’t judge if she wanted to start as early as 18.Delta responded that sometime between her mid-30s and mid-40s felt right.

Shepard also revealed that he offered to freeze Delta’s eggs when she turns 18, acknowledging the privilege that allows him to offer such a safeguard.
This conversation came after Shepard reflected on a past relationship, admitting he once feared he’d never find love again. As previously reported, Shepard was in a nine-year relationship with Briegh Morrison before meeting Bell. He confessed during an October 2025 episode of his “Mom’s Car” YouTube series that he felt “very disoriented” after their amicable split, fearing he’d never experience that level of connection again.
