Despite a cancer diagnosis that onc signaled a limited future, Peruvian actor Christian Thorsen is embracing life with renewed purpose, finding joy in treatment, love, and a hopeful outlook.

More than three years ago, Christian Thorsen received a life-altering diagnosis. Told his time was limited, he has instead found a path toward a fulfilling life, marked by an integrative approach to treatment, a blossoming romance, and a profound gratitude for each day.An apartment in San Isidro has become a sanctuary for Thorsen and his partner, a space representing a new beginning and an chance to rewrite his story.

The battle against prostate cancer continues, but Thorsen’s experience has been one of progress, quality of life, and a steadfast conviction that life remains a precious gift. In a recent conversation, the actor shared his journey, detailing the treatment that restored his well-being, explaining his viewpoint on viewing a challenging diagnosis as a “gift,” and recounting how love unexpectedly entered his life.

“what happiness it is indeed to move forward feeling good,” Thorsen stated.”What I have to thank the mistletoe, without a doubt, is this quality of life. I still have cancer, but I live my life without major problems.” He clarified that while prostate cancer remains, the widespread metastasis he previously experienced – throughout his spine, ribs, jaw, base of the skull, and both lungs – is no longer present. Recent analyses have shown no signs of further progression.

Thorsen’s treatment plan is comprehensive, combining anthroposophic medicine, including mistletoe and two additional therapies designed to prevent cancer from reaching the bone, with traditional hormonal control to manage the hormone-sensitive nature of his cancer. He emphasizes the importance of diet, prioritizing green vegetables.

He is thriving in a relationship with Alejandra castillo, a real estate professional. They celebrated their one-year anniversary on January 1st. He describes Castillo as bringing a new dimension to his life, helping him to plan for the future. “I always lived day to day and with her I learned to project myself. That excites me and gives me a different joy. It’s part of the gift that all this gave me.”

Their connection began when Castillo reached out to Thorsen seeking details about mistletoe while her father was battling cancer. Their initial correspondence blossomed into a relationship that has transformed Thorsen’s outlook. Castillo describes him as a “gentleman” who brings peace, laughter, and humility to her life. They now share a home and have launched a real estate company together, Thor&Cast, where Thorsen’s presence reportedly boosts sales. He also maintains investments in the Cieneguilla and Calango Contry Clubs.

Castillo and Thorsen are even considering marriage. “We already live together, so why not?” Thorsen said, expressing a desire to build a family.

When asked to define this chapter of his life, Thorsen responded without hesitation: “Brave despite fear.” he clarified that his fear isn’t of death, but of leaving things unfinished. His voice broke as he acknowledged the emotional toll of the journey, but ultimately expressed gratitude for his improved health. “I have been able to make my life almost 100% normal and I have to greatly appreciate that. I’m still fighting, but I’m very happy with what has been achieved so far.”

Driven by a desire to share his experience, Thorsen plans to write about his journey, both the triumphs and the challenges. He aims to offer a practical message: that a shift in attitude and a holistic approach to treatment can make a significant difference. He reiterated that mistletoe is an integrative medicine, not an alternative, and hopes to see it integrated into hospital treatments in Peru. “I’m sure it will be a long battle, but I know it will be achieved… and with that I will say goodbye.”
