A’s Invite Top Prospect Leo De Vries to 2026 Spring Training Camp
The Oakland A’s have extended an invitation to highly-touted prospect Leo De Vries to participate in the 2026 spring training camp, signaling a significant step in the young infielder’s development. The team announced the invitation as part of a larger group of 31 players invited to camp, including both non-roster invitees and established players.
De Vries, currently ranked as the fourth overall prospect by MLB Pipeline, was acquired by the A’s from the San Diego Padres in a trade that sent pitcher Mason Miller to San Diego at the 2025 trade deadline. Since joining the organization, the 19-year-old has demonstrated considerable potential, posting a .255/.355/.451 slash line with 15 home runs and 11 stolen bases across 118 games at the High-A and Double-A levels.
His performance improved markedly after a promotion to Double-A Midland at the end of the 2025 season, a level where he is projected to begin the 2026 campaign. “His best performance came after his promotion to Double A with Midland at the end of the season,” a team source confirmed.

Despite his youth, De Vries is widely considered one of the most promising position players in the minor leagues. While an immediate debut in the Major Leagues is not anticipated, his inclusion in spring training camp provides a valuable opportunity for development and evaluation.
Joining De Vries at camp will be left-handed pitchers Jamie Arnold (ranked No. 41 overall) and Gage Jump (ranked No. 57) – completing the A’s contingent of prospects listed on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100.

In addition to the prospects, the A’s have invited 18 players already under contract with the club and 13 free agents signed to minor league deals. The group also includes 14 players with prior Major League experience, including pitchers Nick Anderson and Wander Suero, and infielder Joey Meneses. Suero boasts a career record of 15-14 with a 4.96 ERA, while Meneses has demonstrated offensive prowess, hitting .274 with 29 home runs and 165 RBIs in 286 games with the Washington Nationals between 2022 and 2024.
The A’s are clearly investing in both their future and experienced talent as they prepare for the 2026 season, and the presence of De Vries and other promising prospects suggests a commitment to building a competitive roster for years to come.
