A new wave of digital literacy programs is set to launch in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region of France, building on the success of a community-driven initiative that has already equipped over 100 residents with essential tech skills. These programs aim to bridge the digital divide and foster economic opportunity in rural communities.
Deffinov Workshops Cultivate a Culture of Learning
The final Deffinov workshop of 2025, organized by the Little Offices in Saint-André-les-Alpes, concluded in December with a palpable sense of accomplishment. Participants explored the digital landscape under the guidance of Alizés Création founder, Lisa, in a session focused on practical application. According to organizers, the workshops were designed to make technology accessible to individuals regardless of their experience level or project goals.
“Everyone leaves with keys to move forward, but also with the desire to go deeper,” a representative from the organizing team stated.
Throughout 2025, the Deffinov program served 101 participants, offering workshops on a range of topics including emerging industries, career pathways, and skill-building exercises. The program emphasized collaborative learning and personal growth, with each participant contributing their unique perspectives and aspirations. As the P’tits Bureaux team succinctly put it: “101 routes, 101 curiosities, 101 steps closer to the future.”
Expanding Digital Access Through New Partnerships
The success of Deffinov, which began in 2021, has paved the way for an expanded initiative led by the Communauté de communes Alpes-Provence-Verdon (CCAPV). Beginning on February 1, 2026, the CCAPV will offer a new series of workshops focused on everyday digital tasks. These include using smartphones and computers, sending emails, navigating the internet, and completing online administrative procedures.
The new cycle will run through June 30, 2026, and will be available in 24 of the 41 municipalities within the CCAPV, with workshops held every three weeks. This expansion represents a significant investment in the digital infrastructure and capabilities of the region.
The focus on practical skills and a supportive learning environment underscores a commitment to empowering residents with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. This collaborative effort between Deffinov and the CCAPV demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the evolving technological landscape.
