# UNT Track and Field Shatters Records at New mexico Team Open and UW Invite
A dominant weekend performance saw the University of North Texas track and field team break five program records across two separate competitions,signaling a strong start to their indoor season. The Mean Green athletes competed at the New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque, N.M., and the UW Invite in Seattle, demonstrating notable versatility and athleticism.

The New Mexico Team Open proved particularly fruitful for UNT, with several athletes achieving personal bests and rewriting the program’s history books. Sophomore Trezeguet taylor continued her impressive form, breaking her own record in the 60 meters for the second consecutive meet, clocking in at a winning time of 7.35 seconds.
The women’s 400 meters witnessed a thrilling 1-2 finish for UNT, both athletes surpassing the existing program record. Kendahl Tucker initially set a new benchmark of 53.50 seconds, eclipsing the six-year-old record, but was narrowly beaten by teammate Ariana Williams, who secured first place with a time of 52.79 seconds – now the program’s new standard.
The success continued in the 4×400 relay, where the team of Lailah HudsonWilliams, C’Nai Childress, and Tucker combined for a record-breaking time of 3:41.13, finishing third overall. This marked the second consecutive meet where the team has broken the program record in this event.

Distance Runners Excel in the Pacific Northwest
Simultaneously, the distance group showcased their prowess at the UW Invite in Seattle.London Culbreath established a new program record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:22.60 on Friday evening. Chase Lehr also delivered a standout performance, breaking his own record in the 800 meters, set last year, with a time of 1:47.35.
Overcoming Adversity and Looking Ahead
Despite challenging preparation conditions, the team delivered exceptional results. “I’m very proud of the group this weekend for competing and being prepared through a tough week,” said the director of track and field, Doug Marshall. “We only really had two days of prep (because of icy weather) and some were still stuck for those days but they stayed ready and mentally prepared. I’m extremely proud of the ones that came and broke records this weekend. Definitely going to stay hungry. We have a lot of work to do.”
