Delhi is grappling with a deadly infrastructure flaw after a 25-year-old bank assistant manager died when he fell into an uncovered pit on Joginder Singh Road, a tragedy echoing a similar incident in Noida just 20 days prior.

A System That Forgets Too Quickly

The death of Kamal Dhyani highlights a hazardous pattern of negligence and inadequate safety measures in the Indian capital.

  • Kamal dhyani, 25, died after falling into an open pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board.
  • The incident occurred despite claims of barricading around the construction site.
  • Police have filed a case, but the family alleges a slow response and lack of urgency.
  • This tragedy mirrors a recent death in Noida, raising concerns about systemic failures.

Kamal Dhyani,an assistant manager at a private bank, was just 10 minutes from home when the unthinkable happened. He called his family around 11:45 PM, promising to arrive shortly, unaware that a gaping hole, left open by the Delhi Jal Board, lay in wait on his route.Despite assurances of safety barriers, Dhyani’s motorcycle plunged into the unmarked excavation.

Darkness, Depth, and a System’s Failure

The lack of adequate street lighting combined with the sudden appearance of the deep pit left Dhyani no chance to react. He and his motorcycle were completely swallowed by the hole. Even wearing a helmet couldn’t prevent fatal injuries, and timely medical assistance was tragically delayed.

Family members allege there was no proper barricading or warning signage at the construction site. They spent the entire night frantically searching for Dhyani, visiting police stations in Janakpuri, Sagarpur, Vikas Puri, and Rohini before receiving any substantial help.

What should you do if you encounter an unmarked construction pit? Report it promptly to local authorities and share the location with others to prevent similar tragedies.
