BTN Champions Inclusivity with Landmark Run for Disabilities in Solo

BTN Run for Disabilities, Run for Inclusivity reaffirms PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk’s commitment to social responsibility and sets the stage for a more inclusive BTN Jakarta International Marathon (BTN Jakim) in 2026. The event, held February 7, 2026, at Manahan Stadium in Solo, Indonesia, brought together Paralympic athletes and prominent figures, signaling a powerful shift towards greater inclusivity in sports and financial services.

The event drew significant attendance, including the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the Mayor of Solo, Respati Ardi, BTN’s Director of Risk & Management, Setiyo Wibowo, and Deputy Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia, Rima Ferdianto. This high-level participation underscored the national importance of the initiative.

Beyond Corporate Social Responsibility: ESG in Action

According to a company release, BTN views its commitment to inclusivity as extending beyond traditional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. “The principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in the company are not only a means of implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” stated a senior official. “These principles serve as guiding values in the Bank’s business processes.”

The bank’s leadership emphasized the unifying power of sport. “Running is an inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by everyone, including people with disabilities,” said Setiyo Wibowo following the run. “Similarly, through running, BTN is committed to being an inclusive bank that is there for everyone, in line with ESG principles.” BTN’s commitment extends to providing financial services accessible to all levels of society and tangible support for the empowerment of people with disabilities.

Road to BTN Jakim: A Focus on Health and Welfare

The Run for Disabilities event serves as a key component of the “Road to BTN Jakim” series, highlighting BTN’s broader vision. “Through Run for Disabilities, Run for Inclusivity as part of Road to BTN Jakim, we want to emphasize BTN’s role, which is not only focused on housing financing, but also consistently promotes health, inclusivity, and the welfare of the Indonesian people,” Wibowo explained.

In addition to the run itself, BTN demonstrated its support through a donation of facilities and infrastructure for Paralympic athletes. The bank also announced plans to include 10 disabled runners in the 2026 BTN Jakim marathon and launch a fundraising campaign involving tens of thousands of participants.

Raising Awareness and Promoting Physical Activity

The event’s impact extended beyond the athletic arena. Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin highlighted the critical importance of physical activity for public health. “Lack of physical activity ranks among the top five causes of disease in Indonesia,” he noted. “And running is the most inclusive, affordable, and healthy sport because all you need is a pair of shoes. Our friends with disabilities have proven they can do it, so why can’t we who are healthy?”

Mayor Respati Ardi of Surakarta expressed appreciation for BTN’s initiative, emphasizing the need for systemic support for athletes with disabilities. “We realize the importance of systemic support for athletes with disabilities, from services and environment to their future after their athletic careers,” Ardi stated. “We are grateful to BTN because through BTN Jakim, our friends with disabilities are truly involved. We hope this activity continues to create opportunities to strengthen Solo’s role as an inclusive city.”

A Sustainable Ecosystem for Paralympic Sport

The event garnered praise from the NPC Indonesia as well. “We appreciate BTN for its initiative and support, which is very important for building a sustainable sports ecosystem for people with disabilities,” said Rima Ferdianto, Deputy Secretary General of NPC Indonesia. She added that events like this raise public awareness and demonstrate opportunities for the development of athletes with disabilities, inspiring parents and fostering a more inclusive environment.

BTN’s commitment to inclusivity, demonstrated through the Run for Disabilities event and its broader ESG principles, signals a positive trend towards a more equitable and accessible future for all Indonesians.
