search Intensifies as new Clues Emerge in Nancy Guthrie Abduction Case

Authorities are actively investigating a new message and pursuing leads, with President Trump suggesting answers may be forthcoming.

  • Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday night, and her disappearance was reported Sunday.
  • A ransom note with multiple deadlines has been circulating, demanding payment

The investigation took a new turn Thursday as authorities confirmed receiving a message that has prompted a renewed search effort. “We’ve received some data, a message, that has taken place in the last couple of hours. A lot of things have happened regarding that horrible situation in the last couple of hours.”

Details surrounding the new message remain scarce, and it is currently unclear whether it is connected to potential kidnappers. Both FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s officials have confirmed their awareness of the message and are “actively inspecting the information provided in the message for it’s authenticity.”

Family members last saw Guthrie just after 9:45 p.m.Saturday, a time corroborated by records showing her garage door opening and closing. Approximately four hours later, at 1:47 a.m. Sunday, her doorbell camera disconnected, and an empty frame was previously noted at her residence. At 2:12 a.m., a motion sensor on the home’s security system detected movement, but Pima County Sheriff Chris nanos confirmed the footage could not be recovered, and the source of the movement remains unknown.

Further compounding the mystery, Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker app registered a disconnection at 2:28 a.m., coinciding with the presumed time she left her home, as her phone was left behind. Her family discovered her missing just before noon Sunday, after she failed to arrive at church, prompting an immediate call to 911, according to Sheriff Nanos.

Ransom Demand Complicates Search

An earlier ransom note is central to the ongoing investigation. While the complete text has not been publicly released, authorities have disclosed details regarding two deadlines: one set for 5 p.m. Thursday and another for Monday, according to Heith Janke, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Phoenix division. Janke declined to specify the demands associated with each deadline or any potential threats linked to non-compliance.

Nancy’s son,Camron Guthrie, released a video statement Thursday afternoon, coinciding with the first ransom deadline, pleading for his mother’s safe return. “Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you,” he said. “We haven’t heard anything directly. We need you to reach out and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward.”

Harvey Levin, founder of a celebrity news outlet, reviewed one of three identical ransom notes sent to media organizations and told CNN on Thursday that “the Monday deadline is far more consequential.” The outlet reported receiving the alleged note earlier this week via email, detailing a demand for millions of dollars in cryptocurrency for Guthrie’s release.Levin confirmed Thursday night that the provided bitcoin address was legitimate.

Authorities and family members are deeply concerned about Guthrie’s well-being, as she has several pre-existing medical conditions and requires daily medication, which she currently lacks. While investigators have not received confirmation of Guthrie’s current condition, they are operating under the assumption she is alive, despite acknowledging serious concerns for her safety.

What is the current status of the investigation? Investigators are actively pursuing leads related to a new message and a previously received ransom note, while continuing to search the area around Nancy Guthrie’s home.
