Nigerian Couple Welcomes First Child After 30 Years of Infertility Struggle
After three decades of hoping and praying, a Nigerian couple has celebrated the arrival of their first child, a baby boy, in January 2025. The Omotinugbons’ journey to parenthood, marked by two unsuccessful rounds of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and a challenging pregnancy, stands as a testament to unwavering faith and perseverance.
The couple, who married in 1994, shared their emotional story in a moving testimony at their church, captivating congregants with their long-awaited joy. According to Mrs. Omotinugbon, the desire for a child remained unfulfilled for years, leading them to explore medical interventions. “I have undergone two failed IVF treatments; we have been through prayers and as God will have it, in May 2024, I conceived,” she recounted.
The pregnancy itself presented unique hurdles, as Mrs. Omotinugbon was nearing 57 years old at the time of delivery. “The journey was challenging because of my age, but I was able to sail through,” she explained. “I used to ask God, when will I testify? You have not called me to shame and in January 2025 I put to bed a bouncing baby boy.”
The celebration resonated deeply with those present, particularly her husband, whose overwhelming emotion initially prevented him from speaking. Tears streamed down his face as he cradled his newborn son, a visible expression of decades of longing. His wife stepped forward to articulate their message of hope. “To the glory of God, the Omotinugbon family have been blessed with a bouncing baby boy. If God did it for them, He will surely do it for you. Believe!” echoed their pastor, Daniel Olukoya.
