Despite Bayern’s successes, the Bundesliga only has a slim chance of securing an additional Champions League spot. The UEFA ranking after the quarter-finals in the premier class.

It will not be FC Bayern’s fault if the Bundesliga has to do without an additional Champions League participant in the coming season. The German record champions made it into the Champions League quarter-finals against Atalanta Bergamo in a very confident manner (6:1/4:1), but from a German point of view, it’s alone there.
In the UEFA ranking, which decides which two associations will receive an extra ticket for the league phase of the premier class in 2026/27, Germany is still the first pursuer of England and Spain in third place on Thursday morning. However, the gap to second place has increased noticeably.

While the Bundesliga averages 18,642 points, La Liga already has 19,468. The Premier League has long since passed with 23,847 and can already count on the top 5 of its Table to be able to register for the Champions League. Portugal (18,300) is fourth, close behind the Bundesliga.
La Liga brought all three Champions League round of 16 teams with Real Madrid (3:0/2:1 against Manchester City), FC Barcelona (1:1/7:2 against Newcastle United) and Atletico Madrid (5:2/2:3 against Tottenham) into the next round and thus even represents more than the supposedly overpowering Premier League. In addition to ManCity, Newcastle and Spurs, this also lost to Chelsea (2:5/0:3 against Paris Saint-Germain).
The Europa and Conference League are less attractive for the ranking
Although FC Bayern can… Quarterfinals against Real Spain will “steal” a team themselves, while either Barca or Atletico will be stuck in a direct duel. However, the chances of pushing Spain out of second place are slim, especially as there is a risk of further losses in the Europa and Conference League this Thursday evening. VfB Stuttgart and SC Freiburg lost their first leg1. FSV Mainz 05 came not beyond a 0-0. However, advancing in the smaller European cup competitions brings fewer points than in the Champions League.
The points that associations receive for wins, draws and progress to the next round are always divided by the total number of all clubs in the respective association that originally qualified for the three European Cup competitions.
In the Bundesliga, the fight for the Champions League places had recently become more intense. TSG Hoffenheim, VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and Bayer 04 Leverkusen are in third to sixth place close together.
