The month-long event kicks off with “Deep in the Heart of Texas,” a Thursday night series dedicated to the Lone Star State. This showcase will feature films that capture the essence of Texas, from its sweeping landscapes to its independent spirit and larger-than-life mythology. Viewers can expect to see classics like Giant (1956), The Last Picture Show (1971), No Country for Classic Men (2007), Red River (1948), Hud (1963), Bonnie and Clyde (1967), and Paris, Texas (1984). Notably, the series will also include the TCM premiere of Richard Linklater’s Slacker (1989), a groundbreaking independent film that helped define a latest era of American filmmaking and offered a unique portrait of Austin, Texas.
Beyond Texas, TCM will dedicate Friday nights to honoring Roger Corman as he reaches his 100th birthday. Corman’s influence on independent cinema is undeniable, having launched the careers of numerous prominent directors, including Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Peter Bogdanovich.
