Since Pragyananda qualified for the final, he has become the first Indian to participate in the Champions Chess Tour for the first time.

The Chessable Master Online Chess Tournament, which features the top 16 players in the world, began last February. Pragyananda, a 16-year-old from Chennai, also took part in the tournament. In the quarter-finals, Pragyananda defeated China’s Wei Yi 2.5-1.5. In the semifinals, he defeated Netherlands’ Anish Giri 1.5 – 0.5 in the tiebreaker round.

Following this, Pragyananda advanced to the final and met Chinese player Ding Liran. The first set of the match was won by Chinese player Ding Liran. But in the match for the 2nd set he played efficiently and won. Thus, the match ended in a 1-1 set.

This was followed by a tiebreaker round. Pragyananda lost to Chinese player Ding Lir by a small mistake despite his chance to win. However, as Pragyananda qualified for the final, he became the first Indian to participate in the Champions Chess Tour for the first time.

Following this, Pragyananda will participate in the 44th Chess Olympiad which will start on July 28 in Mamallapuram next to Chennai. 303 teams from more than 160 countries have registered for the tournament.
