NBA Partners with Enjoy Basketball for New Original Content Series

by Liam O'Connor

For Kenny Beecham, the dream of playing professional basketball didn’t end with a draft call, but it didn’t end with the final whistle of his youth either. Instead, it evolved into a digital empire built on the simple premise that the game is best enjoyed when it is accessible and fun. This lifelong passion has now culminated in a high-profile partnership with the NBA, as Beecham turns his love for basketball into a fresh NBA ‘Trivia Show’ series designed to engage a new generation of fans.

The collaboration centers on “Enjoy the NBA Trivia Show,” a three-episode original series that will be broadcast across NBA TV, the NBA app, and the YouTube channels of Beecham’s own media brand, Enjoy Basketball. The series moves away from traditional analysis, instead inviting viewers to play along with Beecham and his long-time friends—Pierre Andresen, Mike Heard, and Darrick Miller—as they navigate trivia based on the season’s most significant moments.

“I feel like I need to pinch myself because this is a lifelong dream,” Beecham said. “I’m excited to see this all come to life, and at the end of the day, I hope to come out of this with some super cool content.”

The NBA and Enjoy Basketball team up for a one-of-a-kind content experience.

From the Bleachers to the Boardroom

Beecham’s journey into the orbit of the professional league began not in a gym, but through the mentorship of his uncle, a former college player. When it became clear that a professional playing career was unlikely, Beecham didn’t distance himself from the sport; he simply changed his vantage point. He spent years immersing himself in the mechanics of the game, acting as an unofficial color commentator for Chicago Bulls games, studying matchups, and meticulously keeping stats.

This obsessive engagement with the sport eventually transitioned into the digital space. Inspired by creators like Chris Smooth, who blended gaming with basketball commentary, Beecham began producing his own content. The turning point came when a simple video of Beecham guessing NBA logos went viral, signaling a massive, untapped appetite for casual, community-driven basketball entertainment.

“As simple as it sounds, so many people loved that video,” Beecham said. “I realized that this could be something more than just a hobby.”

Building the ‘Enjoy Basketball’ Ecosystem

In 2022, Beecham scaled his individual success by partnering with brothers Cole and Cody Hock. Together, they launched Enjoy Basketball, transitioning from a simple content channel into a full-scale media brand. The company began with a modest merchandise drop and a newsletter before expanding into a diversified content group that includes podcasts and social media series.

The brand has since become a hub for millions of fans through several key properties:

  • “Numbers on the Board”: A podcast focusing on the analytical and statistical side of the game.
  • “Small Ball with Kenny Beecham”: A deep dive into the nuances of the sport from a fan’s perspective.
  • “WAG Talk”: A more recent social media series expanding the brand’s reach.
  • “Access Granted”: A collaboration with the Charlotte Hornets that provides a behind-the-scenes look at the life of an NBA rookie.

“I think it’s a breath of fresh air for viewers and readers,” Beecham said, “because we are truly fans of the sport of basketball before anything.”

A Strategic Shift in Fan Engagement

The NBA’s decision to partner with Beecham reflects a broader industry shift toward “creator-led” content. By integrating Enjoy Basketball into its official platforms, the league is tapping into an authentic connection that traditional broadcasts often struggle to replicate. This strategy seeks to bridge the gap between the official league narrative and the organic, often chaotic energy of fan communities.

A Strategic Shift in Fan Engagement

Louis Gilbert, NBA Associate Vice President and Strategic Content Initiatives Lead, noted that the collaboration underscores the league’s commitment to celebrating the game and educating fans in new ways. According to Gilbert, Beecham and his team have built an authentic connection with a new generation of fans, a perspective the league is eager to bring to its global audience.

Key Milestones in the NBA & Enjoy Basketball Partnership

April 10 Alternate telecast of Pistons-Hornets game NBA App / League Pass
Summer Appearance at the NBA Creator Cup In-person/Digital
Ongoing “Enjoy the NBA Trivia Show” series NBA TV / NBA App / YouTube

For Beecham, the partnership is the ultimate validation of his “fan-first” philosophy. “This partnership means the world to us because when you think about what our brand is, there is no better partner or collaborator than the league itself,” Beecham said. “The NBA recognizes our voice and message and allows us to express that.”

The immediate future for the partnership includes a high-visibility alternate telecast for the Pistons-Hornets game on April 10, as well as Beecham’s scheduled appearance at the NBA Creator Cup this summer. These events serve as the next checkpoints in a strategy to move basketball content away from the rigid structure of the studio and closer to the community of the fans.
