Mike Trout hit his fifth home run in a four-game series against the Recent York Yankees on April 16, 2026, making him the first visiting player to accomplish that feat at the current Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009.
The solo shot off reliever Angel Chivilli in the seventh inning traveled 446 feet and gave the Los Angeles Angels a 7-4 lead in an eventual 11-4 victory. Trout had homered twice on Monday and once each in the next two games, completing the five-homer series.
According to MLB researcher Sarah Langs, Trout joined Jimmie Foxx (1933), Darrell Evans (1985), and George Bell (1990) as the only players with five homers in a series against the Yankees. No visiting player had previously hit five in a series at the Bronx venue since its 2009 renovation.
Trout went 6-for-16 in the series with five homers and nine RBIs. He also extended his streak to homering in five straight games at Yankee Stadium and drew an intentional walk before Jo Adell hit a grand slam later in the inning.
Los Angeles manager Kurt Suzuki said Trout’s performance was unsurprising given his daily work ethic, adding that there’s nothing he believes Trout can’t do. Suzuki noted it had been an amazing week for the three-time MVP.

Adell described Trout’s performance as vintage, saying it’s special to witness when he’s healthy and feeling good. Trout is hitting .246 with seven homers and 16 RBIs on the season, and .333 with five homers and 13 RBIs on the Angels’ road trip, which coincided with a mechanical tweak to his swing.
The series also featured four homers from Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who homered twice on Monday, once on Wednesday, and in the first inning of the finale. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, it marked the first time opposing players with multiple MVPs each hit at least three homers in the same series.
Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton acknowledged the greatness on display, calling it cool to watch despite the losses, as New York dropped to seven losses in nine games.
How rare is it for a player to hit five homers in a series against the Yankees?
Only four players in MLB history have done so: Jimmie Foxx in 1933, Darrell Evans in 1985, George Bell in 1990, and now Mike Trout in 2026.

What does this mean for Trout’s season and the Angels’ road trip?
Trout is hitting .333 with five homers and 13 RBIs on the Angels’ current road trip, and the performance followed a mechanical adjustment to his swing that he has been working on recently.
