and acknowledging the long-standing allegation that he ended their romance via his apartment building’s intercom system.

In her 2015 memoir, Going Off Script, Rancic alleged that O’Connell refused to let her into his building and terminated their relationship through the intercom. During a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, recorded in front of a live audience at the SiriusXM NYC Fishbowl, O’Connell addressed the specific circumstances surrounding that day.
O’Connell did not deny the location of the conversation, but he provided context regarding why he was reluctant to grant entry. Someone was inside of my condominium, and Giuliana Rancic wanted entry into my condominium,
O’Connell explained. Thank goodness, buzzer, gate, security. I paid a pretty hefty homeowner’s fee for these things.
He characterized the encounter as an unannounced visit that he wanted to manage without escalation. I said, ‘I did not know you were coming. You can’t come up here. You can’t come here unannounced,’
O’Connell told Ripa. He noted that the relationship lacked the level of intimacy where keys were shared, and he wished to avoid a face-to-face confrontation inside his home.
