Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi views the 22-year-old’s pace and direct creativity as an ideal fit for the project he is building in north London, according to reports. Talks between Tottenham and Savinho’s camp are expected to advance rapidly in the coming days as the club shifts its recruitment focus toward strengthening the frontline.
The player himself has made his intentions clear. Savinho is open to leaving the Etihad Stadium and is keen to explore a move to London amid sustained interest from Tottenham. Manchester City are fully aware of the interest surrounding the young attacker, and officials at the Etihad have indicated they are open to letting him go.
Transfer Context and Squad Competition at Manchester City
The pursuit of Savinho comes after a season where his playing time in Manchester grew increasingly limited. The Brazilian attacker originally joined City from sister club Troyes for £30.8m in July 2024, following a productive loan spell at Spanish side Girona. During his first campaign under former manager Pep Guardiola, Savinho established himself as a regular fixture, making 48 appearances across all competitions and scoring three times.
However, squad competition intensified significantly over subsequent transfer windows. The arrival of Rayan Cherki from Lyon and a January move for Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth created a crowded right-wing pecking order at City. Last term, Savinho’s appearances dropped to 36 matches across all competitions during Guardiola’s final campaign as boss. Despite his limited minutes, City had previously resisted any departure. Tottenham held talks to sign Savinho last summer, but the Etihad club were not looking to sell at that stage. The winger subsequently signed a two-year contract extension last October, a deal that ties him to Manchester until 2031.
AC Milan Enters the Race as Serie A Giants Weigh Alternatives
Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit, though they currently sit at the front of the queue with negotiations well advanced. Serie A side AC Milan have also identified Savinho as a potential target as they plan for potential changes in their attacking unit.
Milan’s interest remains tied to the potential departure of Rafael Leao, with Turkey emerging as the most likely destination for the forward. If Leao is sold, the Rossoneri management are prepared to move for a replacement. While young talent Konstantinos Karetsas has also been linked, club directors have set their sights on Savinho as a more attainable option following an ambitious initial inquiry for Phil Foden that ended when Foden renewed his Manchester City contract.
Milan are preparing a loan with an obligation to buy package valued between €50m and €55m. That figure would be financed largely by the potential €50m sale of Leao to Fenerbahce, though Milan face a race against time to formalize their bid before Tottenham lock down an agreement.

A move to north London would see Savinho join a Tottenham squad that has already heavily invested in its midfield and defensive foundations ahead of the new campaign. Defensive additions also arrived in force, featuring Jan Paul van Hecke in a £52m deal from Brighton & Hove Albion alongside free agent signings Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi.
With the defensive and central areas bolstered, attention in north London has shifted squarely to the attack. Whether Tottenham can convert their advanced talks into a finalized agreement will depend on how quickly formal bids materialize at Manchester City, where the door remains open for a permanent exit.
