Nintendo has announced that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will launch exclusively for the Switch 2 on September 17, 2026. This visual features the male version of the playable character positioned above Sothis, alongside supporting cast members and four protagonists who compete in the Heroic Games: Cai, Dietrich, Leda, and Theodora.
Story and Setting
The game is set in the Dagdan Empire, a land described as being at the peak of prosperity under the rule of the gods. The narrative centers on the Heroic Games held in the capital city of Dagsion in tribute to Dagda, the empire’s first and founding king. Fighters from across the land compete in these games for the chance to have one wish granted to the winner.
The plot involves an intertwining story featuring four heroes tied to the world’s fate:
- Cai: A young boy determined to save his imprisoned father.
- Dietrich: A swordsman searching for a stronger foe.
- Theodora: A queen seeking to fulfill her homeland’s long-held dream.
- Leda: A musician seeking revenge against the murderer of her father.
The overarching story reveals that five years after the Heroic Games, the revived demon god Balor threatens the empire. With the four heroes having vanished, the progenitor god Sothis charges the player’s soul with saving the world. Players can use the time-travelling powers of the goddess Fortuna to change the fates of the four heroes, journeying back to the time of the Heroic Games. Progress is saved for each hero, allowing players to play the stories in parallel.

Following a Nintendo Direct on August 4, 2026, details emerged regarding the game’s strategic, turn-based combat and unit special abilities. Players can explore Dagsion to recruit allies through sharing meals or giving gifts, and train their units to increase their strength.
The game features various activities and exploration elements:
- World Exploration: Players can venture outside the capital to battle bandits and monsters or explore dungeons for resources.
- Time Management: Preparation time between matches is limited, requiring players to prioritize their actions.
- Quests: Townsfolk offer quests that must be completed by a specific deadline to earn rewards.
- Inns: These locations allow characters to rest, eat, and converse while automatically gathering materials and gaining experience.
Character Cast
The official Fire Emblem X account has provided deep dives into 12 characters, with fans estimating the total cast size to be between 32 and 40. Recent reveals include Tobias, the stalwart general of Salamis and servant to Queen Theodora, who is noted for his strength and difficulty remembering names. Another revealed character is Sirocco, a mysterious bard known as the Whimsical Wind,
who appears before Leda and is described as having a frivolous nature and high erudition.
