Russian President Vladimir Putin began the meeting of the organizing committee “Victory” with words about the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yevgeny Zinichev, who died in Norilsk. The head of state announced a minute of silence in memory of him, as well as of those killed in a gas explosion in Noginsk near Moscow.
“In addition, yesterday a tragedy occurred in the Moscow region, a gas explosion, there are also injured and dead. I ask you to honor the memory of all our departed citizens with a minute of silence, ”said Mr Putin.
The head of the department, General of the Army Yevgeny Zinichev, died during an exercise in Norilsk, trying to save director Alexander Melnik, who fell off a cliff into the water of extremely low temperatures at the Kitabo-Oron waterfall of the Irkingda River. Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded Yevgeny Zinichev the title of Hero of Russia. The President also plans to attend the farewell ceremony.
On September 8, a gas explosion occurred in an apartment in a residential building in Noginsk near Moscow. In total, seven people died in the tragedy.
