Under the qualification rules, the top two teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions—excluding the already-qualified host nation, the United States—will book their tickets straight to LA28.
Group A Showdowns and the Opening Test Against the United States
Israel faces an immediate trial by fire in Group A. The team’s opening match pits them directly against the United States, the world’s No. 1-ranked team and defending world champion. The two sides square off Thursday at 1 p.m. local time in Düsseldorf, marking their first group-stage meeting at a World Championship since the sport’s rapid global expansion.
The Americans arrive in Germany looking to defend back-to-back world titles won in 2021 and 2024. The added prestige of an Olympic pathway has brought an extra competitive edge to the tournament.
