Alphabet unveiled its Pixel 11 smartphone lineup on Wednesday, starting at $899 and centering the devices on an agentic version of Gemini Intelligence designed to take actions across apps ahead of Apple’s rebuilt Siri launch.

Google is bringing artificial intelligence closer to the operating system core with its newly announced Pixel 11 family. Unveiled on Wednesday, the lineup arrives just weeks before Apple is expected to roll out a rebuilt Siri powered by Google’s own AI models. Alphabet’s hardware strategy shifts away from standalone chat interfaces toward agentic features that can connect information across messages, calendars, maps, and other services to carry out multi-step user requests.

Pricing, Preorders, and Hardware Configurations

The base Pixel 11 starts at $899 for the model with 256GB of storage, while the 512GB model rises to $1,019, both equipped with 12GB of memory. Stepping up to the larger devices, the Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099 for the 256GB configuration, scaling to $1,219 for the 512GB variant and $1,449 for the 1TB edition. The Pixel 11 Pro XL starts at $1,299 for 256GB, with the 512GB model priced at $1,419 and the 1TB version at $1,649. Google’s sole foldable offering, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, starts at $1,899 for 256GB, with a 512GB version at $2,019 and a 1TB option reaching $2,249.

Preorders are open now, with devices shipping on August 20th, 2026. Unlocked phone buyers purchasing through the Google Store, Best Buy, or Amazon can secure introductory gift cards valued at $100 for the base Pixel 11, $200 for the Pro and Pro XL models, and $350 for the Pro Fold under a promotion running through August 27th, 2026. Buyers utilizing the Google Store can alternatively apply their promotional balance toward a Pixel Watch 5, earning an extra $50 in value or a completely free base 41mm watch when purchasing the foldable model together. Carrier partners are also entering the fray; Verizon is offering up to $1,100 off through monthly bill credits with eligible trade-ins on new lines, alongside alternative installment and upgrade tiers.

Tensor G6 Processing and On-Device AI Capabilities

Under the hood, all four smartphones run on the new Google Tensor G6 processor, engineered to support denser on-device workloads. Google reports the upgraded CPU delivers 25 percent faster web browsing and a 15 percent improvement in app loading speeds over the previous generation Tensor G5. Paired with the latest Gemini Nano model and packing 50 percent more TPU compute, the custom silicon processes on-device artificial intelligence tasks up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy.

“For the last 10 to 15 years, not a lot has changed in how you use laptops and mobile phones, But we think that’s about to change dramatically.”

Rick Osterloh, Google’s devices chief, via CNBC

In an exclusive interview, Google devices chief Rick Osterloh described the new agentic software suite as a totally new way to interact with a computer, allowing users to execute tasks rather than just retrieve information. Osterloh pushed back against suggestions that the Pixel experience will mirror upcoming offerings on rival hardware, emphasizing that Pixel and iPhone are going in very different directions due to deeply integrated Android features like scam detection and Rambler voice transcription.

Market Pressures, Security, and Upgrade Motivations

The hardware rollout collides with broad industry pressures affecting component costs. Osterloh pointed out that there’s quite clearly a shortage of memory, both RAM memory and flash memory, forcing consumer electronics manufacturers to adjust retail pricing upward. Google’s upgraded hardware also features post-quantum cryptography integrated into secure boot via the Titan M3 security chip and Tensor G6 processor, a security framework that Counterpoint Research notes offers the most privacy protection on a phone for its AI experience.

While consumer upgrades driven strictly by artificial intelligence remain in early phases — with Counterpoint ranking AI roughly sixth or seventh among purchase motivators — research director Tarun Pathak notes that increasing consumer awareness and compelling use cases will dictate whether interest converts into sales. With Apple holding a massive base of generative AI-capable devices ready for its own software rollout, the Pixel 11 serves as an early testing ground for whether autonomous assistants can permanently reshape daily mobile device habits.
