Christy Knowings, a former star of Nickelodeon’s sketch-comedy series All That
and Sesame Street,
died on Tuesday at age 46 in a Los Angeles-area hospital following an asthma attack and subsequent brain damage, according to reports confirmed by her family.
Hospitalization and Tragic Death in Los Angeles
A family member shared the details of her final days, explaining that Knowings was hospitalized on Friday after suffering a severe asthma attack.
The medical emergency left her with brain damage. Family members placed her on life support, where she remained through Tuesday before making the difficult decision to remove her support.
Television Legacy on Nickelodeon and Public Broadcasting
Before her passing, Knowings built a recognizable career in children’s television and sketch comedy. She joined the cast of Nickelodeon’s All That
in 1997. Her arrival on the hit series followed her appearance in And Now This,
a Rosie O’Donnell sketch-comedy special produced by the network.
During her three-season run on All That,
Knowings played multiple characters. Viewers most frequently remember her for portraying Penny Lane and Jessica on the recurring Whateverrr!!!

Beyond her work on the Nickelodeon stage, Knowings expanded her television footprint to educational programming. She appeared in three episodes of Sesame Street,
working alongside her twin brother, actor Chris Knowings.

In addition to her extensive television comedy credits, Knowings maintained an active creative career in music. She pursued folk music as an independent artist and released the folk single To the World
in 2020.

A Difficult Year for the ‘All That’ Family
Knowings’ death marks the second time this year that the All That
alumni community has experienced the loss of a former cast member. In January, Kianna Underwood was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Brooklyn, New York.
