Incredibles 3 Concept Art Revealed with June 2028 Release Date

Pixar debuted the first look at Incredibles 3 with concept art at the D23 fan event on Friday. The upcoming film, written by Brad Bird and directed by Peter Sohn, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 16, 2028, following the Parr family as the children step into leading roles.

Plot Details and the Post-Legalization Aftermath

The upcoming film picks up in the aftermath of superheroes regaining their legal status, a major turning point that occurred at the conclusion of the previous installment. In the Disney Entertainment Showcase presentation during the D23 event, it was revealed that the younger members of the Parr family will drive the narrative forward.

Instead of relying entirely on their parents, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack will take center stage. The plot centers on the children sneaking out of the house at night to protect the city while keeping their clandestine heroics hidden from Bob and Helen Parr.

The first concept art for the film was revealed during the Disney Entertainment Showcase presentation at the D23 fan event Friday, along with some new plot details.

Keeping the Ages Grounded Without a Time Jump

Writer Brad Bird confirmed that the third movie will not feature a time jump. This creative decision keeps Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack at their original ages rather than aging them up into teenagers or adults between sequels.

The franchise has experienced significant gaps between releases. The original movie premiered in 2004, introducing audiences to a world where supers were forced into hiding after public backlash. Fourteen years later, 2018’s Incredibles 2 followed the family as they battled the villainous Underminer before facing the Screenslaver and ultimately restoring public trust in superheroes.

Returning Cast and Creative Shifts Behind the Scenes

A mix of returning voice talent and new creative leadership is shaping the project. Craig T. Jackson as Lucius Best.

While Bird penned the script for the third film just as he did for the first two, the director’s chair is changing hands. Peter Sohn, known for directing The Good Dinosaur and Elemental, is taking over directorial duties from Bird.

Pixar’s Box Office Legacy and the 2028 Release

The Incredibles franchise remains a cornerstone of Pixar’s theatrical history. Incredibles 2 held the title of Pixar’s highest-grossing film of all time until it was surpassed by Inside Out 2.

Disney initially announced the third installment at the D23 event in August 2024, followed by a confirmed release date in March 2026. Fans will see how the superpowered family handles the spotlight when Incredibles 3 hits theaters on June 16, 2028.
