British-Nigerian influencer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo died in March at age 43 following a cosmetic penile enlargement procedure in Bangkok, Thailand. An Inner West London Coroners’ Court inquest revealed he suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism after doctors injected 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine into his penis.
The death of the 43-year-old businessman, who also went by the names Denisi and Ego, has brought renewed scrutiny to the risks associated with cosmetic procedures abroad. Ubiribo was well-known on social media for showcasing an opulent lifestyle to his approximately 185,000 Instagram followers.
What Happened in Bangkok
Ubiribo and his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, were staying at a Marriott hotel in Bangkok during an overseas trip. While in the city, Ubiribo visited an unidentified clinic where he received an injection of roughly 40 millilitres of lidocaine and hyaluronic acid for a penile enlargement procedure.
Shortly after undergoing the cosmetic treatment, the couple went to receive a massage. During the session, Ubiribo began experiencing chest pain and fainted twice. Emergency medical services transported him to Sukhumvit Hospital in an ambulance.
When he arrived at the hospital, Ubiribo was still conscious and able to respond to questions. Allen informed the medical staff about the filler injections her husband had just received. Doctors diagnosed a pulmonary embolism, a dangerous condition where a blood clot or foreign substance blocks blood flow in the lung vessels. Medical professionals recommended a computed tomography scan, but Ubiribo lost consciousness before the imaging could take place.
Medical Intervention and Postmortem Findings
Hospital staff transferred Ubiribo to the intensive care unit and attempted resuscitation for about 100 minutes. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead in the early hours of March 6.
An inquest at Inner West London Coroners’ Court examined the circumstances of the tragedy. Coroner Jean Harkin recorded the official cause of death as a pulmonary embolism following the injection of hyaluronic acid into the penis, concluding that Ubiribo had died as the result of a cosmetic procedure abroad

A postmortem examination conducted in the United Kingdom supported the coroner’s conclusion. Pathologists discovered cellular material in his lungs that matched the hyaluronic acid administered during the procedure in Thailand, confirming that the injected substance had resulted in a pulmonary embolism.
Medical Warnings Surrounding Penile Fillers
The fatality has triggered broader warnings from medical professionals regarding the hidden dangers of cosmetic enhancements that involve filler injections. Professor Vaibhav Modgil, an NHS andrology specialist and consultant urological surgeon, has previously warned that such procedures can result in serious and potentially devastating complications.
Experts warn that while filler injections are non-surgical procedures, there is a risk of severe complications, especially if the substance enters the blood vessels.
Tributes and London Funeral
Ubiribo’s death prompted an outpouring of grief from friends, family, and prominent figures in the entertainment community. He and Allen had married in Zimbabwe in 2022 in an opulent ceremony. At the time of his death, the couple owned significant assets, including a home in Los Angeles’ Crenshaw neighborhood valued at about $1.1 million and a $600,000 flat in London.
In May, mourners gathered in London for his funeral. The service drew high-profile attendees, including Afrobeats star Davido and the Celebrity Barman, Cubana Chief Priest.
