Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski Announce Split After Nearly 10 Years

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have announced their separation after nine years of marriage. The actors, who eloped in March 2017 and share two children together, confirmed the news in a joint statement shared on September 15, 2026, noting they have been separated for a while.

After nearly a decade of marriage, Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have called it quits. The couple confirmed their split in a joint statement, revealing that the separation is not entirely recent.

We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit.

A Slow-Burn Romance That Began on Stage

The relationship began in May 2015 when the pair met while working together on the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By. At the time, Seyfried was in a relationship with Justin Long, while Sadoski was married to casting director Kimberly Hope. Their connection remained strictly platonic during their respective relationships.

By October 2015, Sadoski had split from Hope after eight years of marriage, and Seyfried also ended her two-year relationship with Long. The actors reunited professionally in early 2016 on the set of the film The Last Word, where they played love interests Anne and Robin. They took their romance public shortly after.

The couple opted for a quiet wedding in the spring of 2017. Sadoski later revealed details of the ceremony during an appearance on television.

“We eloped. We just took off into the country with an officiant and, just the two of us, and we did our thing. It was beautiful. It was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other.”

Family Life and Mutual Career Support

Throughout their nine years of marriage, the couple welcomed two children: daughter Nina, who is 9 years old, and son Thomas Jr., who is 5. Nina arrived less than two weeks after her parents married in March 2017, while their son was born in September 2020.

While they largely kept their family life private, residing primarily on a farm in upstate New York, both actors frequently expressed mutual admiration and support for each other’s demanding careers. During her 2022 Emmy acceptance speech for her performance in The Dropout, Seyfried publicly thanked her husband.

More recently, Seyfried opened up about the balancing act required to manage a thriving acting career alongside family responsibilities. In a Vogue interview published in January, she acknowledged that Sadoski sacrifices a lot for me as she navigated a busy production schedule that included films like The Housemaid and The Testament of Ann Lee.

Current Standing and Public Post-Split Interaction

Despite the end of their marriage, indicators point to an amicable parting between the two performers. Shortly before the public announcement of their split, Seyfried shared a lighthearted photo of Sadoski posing with her pet bearded dragon, Romeo, on her Instagram Story, captioning the image @thomassadoski is a #reptiledad.

She also shared a philosophical thought with her social media followers alongside the pet photo.

“There’s really not a difficult thing unless you decide it’s a difficult thing. Otherwise, it’s just the next thing you’re figuring out.”

Real estate moves have also accompanied the transition. Architectural Digest reported that Seyfried put her Hollywood Hills home on the market for $3.2 million, having originally purchased the property in 2011 for $1.85 million, as she continues to maintain her primary residence on the East Coast.
