Xiaomi has expanded its smart home hardware ecosystem with a wave of new lighting and heating devices. The product rollouts feature advanced illumination standards, custom dual light sources, and automated bathroom climate control systems designed for global and domestic markets.
Mijia Vertical Study Lamp 2C Takes on Freestanding Room Illumination
Xiaomi has listed its brand new Mijia Vertical Study Lamp 2C on JD.com, with preorders opening at 10 AM Beijing time. The retail price is set at ¥1,199, or about $165 (€145). This tall, freestanding form factor places the device squarely in a market segment long dominated by IKEA.
Unlike smaller desk fixtures, the standing lamp is engineered to loom over a workspace as a powerful photon source. Compared to its predecessor, the 2C features a considerably longer lamp head stretching to 80 cm. This expansion noticeably widens the illuminated area relative to the first generation.
The hardware utilizes a dual light source layout featuring an 8:3 brightness ratio between the upper and lower sections. The system peaks at 11,000 lumens, which the company claims is sufficient to illuminate an entire room up to 14 square meters. The lower light source incorporates a triple optical filtering structure with an individual lens for each LED, operating as part of a 384-LED full-spectrum array at a warm 4000K color temperature.
Desk Lamp 2 Clear Vision Edition Targets Office Workspace Ergonomics
Complementing the vertical room lamp, Xiaomi also introduced the Mijia Desk Lamp 2 Clear Vision Edition. It is scheduled to go on sale through JD.com with a starting price of 189 yuan ($28).
The lamp is built around a 60cm horizontal light bar utilizing a forward-facing projection method rather than direct downward lighting. This design choice lights the work area without causing glare on a laptop or monitor screen. The suspended horizontal bar leaves the base compact, freeing up desktop space for a keyboard, mouse, or paperwork.
Inside the light bar, 112 LEDs deliver increased brightness over standard models. The central 500 by 300mm working area outputs a minimum of 1,000 lux, up from the previous 756 lux, while a wider 700 by 500mm zone reaches 550 lux. Light uniformity is rated at 1.7 in the center and 3.1 overall, meeting China’s GB/T 9473-2022 AA-level standards for desk lighting.
Advanced Sensors and Climate Controls for Smart Living Spaces
Beyond workspace illumination, the hardware ecosystem expansion includes whole-home automation components. In international showcases, the brand has promoted its broader catalog, while domestic production focuses on specialized domestic infrastructure like the Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater 2.
The ceiling-mounted bathroom unit serves as a combined lamp, termoventilatore, and aspiratore. A double-ventled, single-duct system driven by DC inverter motors delivers a reported portata of 300 cubic meters of air per hour, capable of completing a full bathroom air exchange in approximately 90 seconds.
Automation features rely on built-in temperature and humidity sensors, alongside dual 24 GHz mmWave radar sensors for presence detection. Unlike infrared motion sensors, the millimeter-wave technology perceives static presence, preventing lights from turning off while someone remains stationary. An integrated volatile organic compounds (VOC) sensor automatically activates ventilation when chemical levels from cleaning products exceed a certain threshold.
Connectivity, Software Integrations, and Regulatory Certifications
All newly detailed hardware items incorporate software ecosystem hooks. The desk lamps and vertical study units connect to the Mijia app and HyperOS ecosystem for remote control, custom presets, and voice commands.
The Desk Lamp 2 Clear Vision Edition allows color temperature adjustments between 2700K and 5100K across six presets, including Reading and Computer modes. It also includes a built-in focus timer with work intervals adjustable from 1 to 90 minutes. For safety and eye comfort, the desk lamp holds TÜV Süd certification, an RG0 rating for zero blue-light hazard, and flicker-free operation.
Similarly, the vertical study lamp features touch control zones, a night light mode, and a 24 GHz presence detection sensor for automated switching. It has cleared national and EU TÜV Rheinland certifications with no visible flicker. While the vertical study lamp ships with a three-year warranty through JD, its wider international availability and support timelines remain dependent on regional rollouts.
