Researchers prove that a man’s beard is dirtier than a dog’s fur

A man’s beard is dirtier than a dog’s coat, according to researchers from the Swiss clinic Hirslanden, reports The Sun. It is emphasized that bacteria were found in every beard sample, half of which are dangerous to human health.

“The researchers found a significantly higher bacterial load in samples taken from a man’s beard compared to a dog’s coat,” said Professor Andreas Gutsait. The study found that all of the men with beards who were sampled had high levels of germs, while only 23 out of 30 dogs had high levels of germs. The remaining 7 test dogs had moderate levels of bacterial contamination.

Seven men also had insects in their beards.

“Based on these data, dogs can be considered clean compared to bearded men,” emphasized Dr. Gutsait.

Beard Liberation Front founder Keith Flett said he was not impressed with the results of the study. He considers it to be the result of a prejudice against the beard, and emphasizes that he does not consider a beard to be something unhygienic.
