Los Angeles: James Caan, who played the role of Sonny Corleone in The Godfather, has died at the age of 82. The family announced the death on Wednesday evening on Twitter. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Godfather. He also made a cameo appearance in the second part of The Godfather.

Kahn started his acting career in Hollywood in the 1960s. It started with small roles. Apart from Godfather, Rollerball, Thief and Misery are also films that brought fame to Cannes. He became addicted to drugs in the early 1980s and was devastated by the death of his sister in 1981. Later in 1990, he made a grand comeback with Misery.

He has been married four times. Divorced all his wives. Kahn had one daughter and three sons.
