Spain vs. Lithuania (the Twitter of the Spanish national team)
After the Israeli team lost in the semifinals of the European U20 Championship, we didn’t have to wait more than a day to know who will be the successor of the blue-whites as the continental champion. Tonight (Sunday) we got the answer, when Spain, who eliminated the reserve team from the Holy Land in the last four stage, defeated Lithuania 61:69 in the final and won the title.
La Rocha finished a perfect tournament for them that included one hundred percent success. It started with victories in the early stage over the Czech Republic, Ukraine and the same Lithuania that they met in the final, after which the Spaniards continued to run over Poland and Belgium in the knockouts, until they met Oren Aharoni’s group and again the Lithuanians.
This is Spain’s third win in the tournament. The first was somewhere in 2011, when it hosted the competition and beat Italy 70:82 in the final, while the second in 2016 with 55:68 again over Lithuania, in a tournament held in Macedonia. By the way, the Spaniards finished as runners-up six times, including in the last championship held in Israel, when Israel won 84:90.
