Retaliation? Kohli was dismissed by the BCCI

Virat Kohli is a player who once became the spearhead of the Indian batting line-up but recently faced a lot of criticism due to his out of form.

The player who has been ranked number one in the ICC rankings for many years has been showing a performance that has not even come close to a shadow of his form in a recent match.

There were reports that Virat Kohli had said that he should be included in the squad for the Asia Cup. After the England tour, the star spent time in London and is training for the Asia Cup.

But BCCI chief Arun Dhumal has said that whether Virat will be in the team is not in their hands. Dhumal said that the team is selected by the selection committee and the decision is left to them.

He said this in an interview to veteran journalist Vimal Kumar.

The selection committee has to take the final decision on whether Virat Kohli will be in the team. The decision of the selectors will be accepted. Things will move forward according to what they decide,’ said Dhumal.

In the interview, Dhumal also said that Kohli himself vacated the captaincy of the team.

“As far as captaincy issues are concerned, it was his decision. Muje ab Nahi Karni high captaincy (I don’t want to be captain now) was his decision.

Many must think that the captain could have stepped down after the World Cup, that’s their view. But he had to give up the captaincy. It is his decision alone. We accept and respect that decision.

Virat has contributed a lot to Indian cricket. That is why the board respects him. We are looking forward to see Virat perform well on the ground,’ said Dhumal.

The Asian Cricket Council has advised the teams to announce their squads for the Asia Cup by August 8. Pakistan announced their squad the other day by lining up a huge number of players.

Reports suggest that the BCCI and the selection committee will meet in Mumbai on August 8 and the squad will be announced on the same day.
